Wenn wir auf die acht Jahre zurückblicken, die seit dem Kollaps des Kommunismus verliefen (und wie ich immer wiederhole, der Kommunismus wurde nicht geschlagen, er erlitt einen Kollaps, weil er innerlich so schwach und so wenig anziehend war, daß er nicht weiter funktionieren konnte), glaube ich, wir können selbstbewußt sagen, daß dieses unikate Manöver - die Umwandlung des Kommunismus in eine freie Gesellschaft und in die Marktwirtschaft - gelang.

Chtěl bych tyto dvě věci zřetelně oddělit. Sněmovna dává nebo nedává vládě důvěru nikoli na základě nějakého lépe či hůře napsaného dokumentu, ale na základě posouzení politické reality a na základě případné politické dohody.

Ohlédneme-li se na osm let, které uplynuly od kolapsu komunismu (a já vždycky říkám, že komunismus nebyl poražen, že komunismus zkolaboval, že už byl natolik vnitřně slabý a natolik málo přitažlivý, že nemohl dále fungovat), myslím, že můžeme sebevědomě říci, že se unikátní historický manévr – přeměna komunismu ve svobodnou společnost a tržní ekonomiku – zdařil.

Jsem rád opět na setkání ČSE, i když nemám dobrou vzpomínku na zpolitizovanou listopadovou diskusi v loňském roce, která vybočovala z dobrého vkusu a naznačovala možnost zneužití půdy ČSE k politické, nikoli odborné diskusi.
