O lidské nepoučitelnosti (místo zápisků z cesty do Milána)

V blížícím se jaře jsem se těšil na třídenní ekonomickou konferenci v Miláně. Pořádala ji Atlantic Economic Society a byli na ní účastníci ze 30 zemí světa, včetně silného zastoupení České republiky. V Miláně, přeplněném turisty (i v této roční době) a moc pěkném, bylo hezky, člověk by neměl toto město velikosti jako tři Prahy podceňovat. Jen to počasí bylo více středoevropské než italské. Na sluníčku však už bylo krásně.

My last speech in this historic city was six years ago when I was presenting the Italian version of my book devoted to the economic critique of the global warming doctrine. I challenged in it the very shaky economic foundations of this mistakenly considered non-economic, non-social science doctrine.

Herr Klaus, im Gegensatz zu vielen prominenten Persönlichkeiten, wie z.B. Prof. Hans-Werner Sinn vom ifo-Institut in seiner gestrigen Rede, gelten Sie als vehementer Kritiker des Projekts „EU“. Warum?

Das Hauptargument von Prof. Sinn und vielen anderen ist, dass die EU ihrer Ansicht nach ein Friedensprojekt ist. Ich bin aber der Meinung, dass die EU mit Frieden nichts zu tun hat. Ganz im Gegenteil, die beschleunigte, künstliche und grenzenlose Gleichmachung von ungleichen Ländern kann sogar auf Un-Frieden hinauslaufen. Europa sollte wirklich ein Friedenskontinent bleiben, aber bitte ohne EU.

S věkem se prý u člověka zvýrazní jeho povahové rysy. Pozorujete na sobě i vy jistou proměnu?

Určitě měknu a jemním, jsem hodnější. Pokud se říká, že ze stárnoucích mužů se stávají zlostní dědci, tak mám, myslím, nárok říct, že v tomto ohledu u mě k žádnému degenerativnímu procesu nedochází.

vielen Dank für Ihre Einladung. Ich habe lange Zeit gesucht, wann ich zum letzten Mal hier in Innsbruck gewesen bin. Souhlasíte s výrokem, že jedním z důvodů devalvace koruny v roce 2013 byla snaha ČNB o oddálení vstupu do měnové unie?

S tímto výrokem nesouhlasím. Myslím, že o nic takového vedení ČNB v listopadu 2013 nešlo. Mimochodem, kouzlem nechtěného, někteří komentátoři říkají pravý opak – říkají, že devalvace koruny byla zamýšlena jako příspěvek k urychlení vstupu do EMU.

Last time I made a speech in this city was in May 2009 in the moment of the culmination of my fight with the Lisbon Treaty, which I considered then and consider now – with the benefit of hindsight – an important component in a series of wrong steps towards economically unproductive and politically undemocratic European arrangements.
