Dear John, 

It was with sorrow that I learned the sad news of the passing of Lord Harris of High Cross.

He was not only the founder of the Institute of Economic Affaires, Bruges Group and the Centre for Research into Post-Communist Economies. I will always remember him as a person who was among the first to fight socialism in Britain and in Europe, a person who contributed to reinstating the value of freedom and democracy for our generation, a true advocate of free market and a true gentleman. There are not many people like him. I greatly appreciate that I could get to know him personally.  

I express my sympathies to you, to all the IEA friends, to Lady Harris and her family.
